Subject	Car won't go out of first gear

Message	my 90 300zx for some reason stalled on me when i was in drive. whenever the car was put back in drive it would stall. got the car towed to a mechanic shop; who cleaned the TPS and the CPS since it was correded. now the car keeps running in drive, but i only have first gear. Any help is much appreciated, as the mechanic does not know what could be causing this. He believes that this is electrical. PLEASE HELP!
